Who we are
Waypoint is an independent guide for California parents of children with disabilities. We are not a law firm, a medical provider, or a government agency, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the Department of Developmental Services (DDS), any Regional Center, any school district, or any other agency.
Information, not advice
Everything on this site — guides, answers, tools, and template letters — is general information about how California systems usually work. It is not advice about your specific situation. Using this site, adapting a letter, running a tool, or emailing us does not create an attorney-client relationship, a doctor-patient relationship, or any other professional relationship with Waypoint. For decisions that matter, talk with a qualified professional who knows your child’s case. Our Disclaimer explains this fully, and it is part of these terms.
What you may do with our content
You may read, print, copy, and adapt our template letters, checklists, and guides for your own family’s personal, noncommercial use. That is exactly what they are for — change the names, adjust the facts, make them yours.
What you may not do without our written permission: republish our content as your own, sell it, bundle it into a paid product or service, or use it to train a commercial product. Quoting a short excerpt with credit and a link is always welcome.
Our content and yours
The original text, tools, and design of this site belong to Waypoint and are protected by copyright. The statutes, regulations, and agency documents we cite belong to the public — cite them all you like.

This site is provided “as is.” We date our figures, cite our sources, and correct mistakes when we find them, but we cannot promise the site is complete, current, or error-free, and we cannot promise any outcome from following it. Our tools run in your browser
The free tools on this site are stateless: they compute entirely on your device and send us nothing. Their results depend on what you enter and on rules that change over time, so treat them as a starting point, not a determination.

We link to government agencies, nonprofits, and other resources we think will help. We do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or privacy practices. A link is not an endorsement, and no one pays us for placement.
